An over look of the T20 World Cup

The fastest form of the cricket has arrived and that too with its biggest platform. This time in the subcontinent Bangladesh where the slow tracks with less bounce are waiting for all the cricketing fraternity. Beginning from 21st march mouth watering contest between the arch rivals India - Pakistan from group B with other 3 teams being Aussies, the defending champions West Indies and one of the qualifiers who will be fighting for their place in Qualifiers from March 16th including the hosts Bangladesh, Ireland, UAE, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Nepal and Hong Kong. Being the crowd's favorite format this will pull the supporters from all over the world to support their teams and cheer them

Group A

Struggling England has no services from the player of the tournament in 2009 Kevin Pietersen as his all contracts are over and told that he won’t be playing from England till date. But still with talented Alex Hales, Skillful Morgan, all rounder Luke Wright and Stuart Broad they can give a tough fight but are not in the list to get through to the semi’s.

Chokers

Sri Lanka will also be a tough team to get through as they are also in good form after winning the Asia Cup. It will be the last t20 world cup for the veteran pair of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene who will take retirement from this format after this edition of world cup. They also have Malinga one of the best death bowlers in present cricket. Also all- rounders Thisara Perera and the very talented Angelo Mathews will be out there to put up a good show and take their team from group A to the Semi’s.

The Hardworking

South African’s are strong contenders for this edition of world cup as they have one of the best batsman in the team who is the skipper of the team as well AB de Villiers. Also with the young talent of Quinton de Kock and Hendricks they have the experienced Morkel Brothers, Dale Steyn, in the Bowling attack. They have a strong middle order comprising of JP Duminy and Faf Du Plessis who have proved in recent times that they are hard to crack. They also have Hashim Amla to anchor the innings. A good and balanced combination leads to a well performing side which they can be.

Ambitious

New Zealand is one of the strong teams and is favorite to qualify from this group as they have a good lot of players comprising of their skipper Brendon McCullum, Hard hitting all rounder Corey Anderson who is the find of this season and has the record of scoring fastest 100 in ODI’s. Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill are also available to complete the batting order. Talking about their bowling this is the department they have to work to get in the top 4 with the experience of Kyle Mills, big Mitchell McClenaghan they don’t have big names in the bowling attack. Nathan McCullum is the only Go-TO spinner after they overlooked Daniel Vettori.

My Prediction – Proteas & Kiwis.

Group B

Talking about the group B teams and starting from the defending champions - The unpredictable West Indian's. With the likes of all the power hitters Thunderous Chris Gayle, Skipper Dwayne Bravo, Last year's final's hero Samuels, hard hitting Sammy and mystery bowler Sunil Narine . It will be tough for them to retain the championship however, they can turn the game on its head against any of the 9 oppositions.

Reverberating Aussies

They are back like they were in the times of Warne, Gilly, Hayden and many more. With the likes of Watson and bailey in middle order , experienced Hodge is back complementing the full fleshed bowling attack comprising of Coulter Nile, Bollinger, veteran Hogg, all rounder Faulkner. They are the underdogs as well as favorites to get through to the top 4. Talking about the opening pair of Finch and Warner they the most threatening one’s in the first 6 overs as they can give a good platform to the middle order.

Mercurial Pakistan

The most consistent team of T20 World cup’s winning the second edition, played final in the first one and the semi finals of the last two are a threat to all the teams as they will be playing in the sub continental conditions which suit them. A good news for them is BOOM BOOM Afridi is back in form, also Hafeez and Umar Akmal are doing well to support their tremendous bowling attack with world’s no.1 spinner Saeed Ajmal. Pakistan can any day repeat the heroics of 2009 world cup if they are in good touch.

Poised and doubtful Indians

They are once again considered as the underdogs like they were in the first edition played in South Africa where out of nowhere they became the champions. The Star Studded batting line up with the likes of Rohit, Dhawan, Virat and MSD they have also recalled Mr. flamboyant Yuvraj Singh and the talented left hander Suresh Raina who can also help the skipper as they increase the bowling options in spin department after having the services of Ashwin, Mishra and Jadeja. Like always India is always concerned about their Bowling attack especially the death overs. Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the spearhead of Indian Bowling attack with Varun Aaron the speedster hitting the deck with early 140s but not with consistent line and length. It will be a good chance for the Sixer King Yuvraj Singh to prove and retain his lost place in ODI’s. This maybe his last chance too as he has entered in his 30’s and is also been a bit unfit in his whole career. Virat and MSD Will be the key and players to crack if the opposition has to get through them.

My prediction – Aussies, India
